An inequality is just like an equation except instead of having a finite number of discrete solutions it has a infinite, continuous set of solutions. The mechanics of solving it are identical to what they would be if it were 2a + 7 = -5a + 28:
1. Get the variables to one side and the constants to the other side
2a + 5a > 28 - 7 [add 5a to both sides and subtract 7 from both sides]
7a > 21 [combine like terms and simplify]
2. Isolate the a by dividng both sides by 7:
>
a > 3 [simplify]
Any real number greater than 3 is a solution to this inequality
