Question 843004: What is the expression for the solution in this interval notation?
5-x is is < or = to 0
the multiple choice options are:
A. [5, infinity sign)
B.(- infinity sign, 5]
C. (-infinity sign, -5)
D. (5, infinity sign)
E. None of the above
How do you figure out the answer and what is the answer? Just a simple explanation, please. My homework is due tonight.
Thank you!
P.S. I don't know how to type the positive infinity sign or the negative one.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5 - x <= 0
5 - x + x <= 0 + x
5 + 0 <= x
5 <= x
x >= 5
So the answer is [5, infinity) which is choice A
Note: if you can't write out the infinity sign, then you simply just write "infinity"
Here's what the answer would look like if you could write out the symbol itself
Notice how the square bracket is used on the 5 because we're including x = 5 in the solution set.
