foil

cross products

add -(2x^2 +19x +35) to each side

The product of the outer coefficients is 396
Since 12 x 33 = 396 and 12+33 = 45 we can factor

So either 3x + 3 = 0 or 4x + 11 = 0
Take 3x + 3 = 0
add -3 to each side
3x = -3
x = -1
Now 4x + 11 = 0
add -11 to each side
4x = -11
x = -11/4
Our solutions are x = -1 and x = -11/4
