Add 3 to all three sides:

12 < 5x - 3 < 22
+3       +3   +3
----------------
15 < 5x     < 25

Divide all three sides by the
coefficient of x, which is 5

         3 < x < 5

The graph of this is

and the interval notation is 

         (3, 5)
