7(x-2)<4(x-4)

Answer by mshroomsister(2) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x-2<4x-5
subtract 4x from both sides.
You'll get:
x-2<-5
add 2 to each side
You'll get:
x<-3
6x+3+x<2+4x+4
Add up on both sides.
7x+3<4x+6
Subtract 4x from both sides.
3x+3<6
Subtract three from both sides.
3x<3
Divide by three from both sides.
x<1
Now you try it with the last three problems, just remember that what ever you on one side of the inequality you must do on the other. If you subtract an x from one sides...youhave to do it to the other. Also remeber that if you divide by a negative, then you have to switch the sign.
For example if you have a -3x<3
you have to divide by negative three, you answer will be x>-1
Notice the sign changed side.
Hope this helped! :*
