If her grades on four equally weighted chapter exams are 78, 69, 92, and 75, and if the final exam counts twice as much as the chapter exams, what possible grade on the final exam will result in Sharon earning a grade of B in her Algebra class? Is it possible for her to make an A?
I'm not sure how to solve this problem. I have the Answer for it, but I would like to know how I would get to this answer.

If her grades on four equally weighted chapter exams are 78, 69, 92, and 75, and if the final exam counts twice as much as the chapter exams, what possible grade on the final exam will result in Sharon earning a grade of B in her Algebra class?
:
let x = the final exam grade
The Exam grade counts twice as much as the others, so count it is as two exams
:
= 81
Add the numbers, multiply both sides by 6
2x + 314 = 6(81)
2x + 314 = 486
2x = 486 - 314
2x = 172
x = 172/2
x = 86 in the final will give her a 81 which is a B
:

Assuming a 90 is an A
2x + 314 = 6(90)
2x = 540 - 314
2x = 226
x = 226/2
x = 113, since grades only go to 100, it is not possible
