Question 677796: Hello,
I need help to make sure that I found out what went wrong with my math problem. I am not sure what It might be. The problem said to : Pick two random points in the form of (x, y) and illustrate the procedure to find the slope using the slope formula from your text book or from the live chat. What type of slope have you computed? (Positive, negative, zero or undefined slope) Here is my work:
m= y2-y1/ x2-x1
2-1/4-2= 1/2
I graphed it on the paper, and it turned out to be an undefined slope.
But I was told that I might have messed up on my slope. I am not sure what to do about this. Please do help. My 2 points on the graph are: (2,1) and (2,2)

The x coordinates are both 2. So this means that we have a vertical line going through x = 2, which has an undefined slope.
Your calculations should be
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
m = (2-1)/(2-2)
m = 1/0
which is undefined because you CANNOT divide by zero.

My 2 points on the graph are: (2,1) and (2,2)
------
slope = (2-1)/(2-2) = 1/0 which is undefined
