Answer by jpvn2015(54)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8(y+2) = 2(3y+4)
Which equals = 8y + 16 = 6y + 8
Then, we subtract 6y from both sides and get: 2y + 16 = 8
Subtract 16 from sides: 2y = -8
Thus, y = -4

Hi
8(y+2)=2(3y+4)
8y+16=6y+8 Yes. Good work
8y + 16 -6y-16 = 6y + 8 - 6y - 16 ||Combining Like Terms(variable on one side,numbers on the other
2y = -8
y = -4
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distribute the 8 and the 2
8(y) + 8(2) = 2(3y) + 2(4)
...
8y + 16 = 6y + 8
Isolate y to one side of the equation
Subtract 6y from both sides
Subtract 16 from both sides
8y - 6y = 8 - 16
...
2y = -8
Divide both sides by 2
