Question 58731: Im doing a homework worksheet on Solving Inequalities. We have to plot it on the graph. One of them looks like this...........y<3x+2
y(greater than less than) -x
I understand how to solve i just dont know where to shade it. My teacher always does this shading thing. If you could explain where to shade and why that would be great...Hope this makes sense

1st: y<3x+2
You graphed a dashed-line for y=3x+2
Since you want to shade y LESS THAN 3x+2
you shade the half-plane BELOW the line.
---------------------
y(greater than less than) -x
You graphed a solid line y=-x.
Since you also want Y GREATER THAN -x
you shade the half-plane ABOVE the line.
------------
LESS THAN always BELOW
GREATER THAN alway ABOVE
