Question 564749: 3/10(e-2) is less than or equal to 3/5e - 1/4
I'm fairly sure I'm supposed to find the least common denominater (?) for the fractions, which is 20, and would change the fractions to 6/20, 12/20, and 5/20, but if that's right, do I also multiply (e-2) by 20? I'm so confused. Thank you!
Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3/10(e-2) is less than or equal to 3/5e - 1/4

First, I will write the equation I believe is the given problem:
(3/10)(e-2)≤(3/5)e-1/4
3(e-2)/10≤3e/5-1/4
LCD:20 (like you said)
6(e-2)≤12e-5 (yes, you should multiply 6*(e-2))
6e-12)≤12e-5
-6e≤7
Divide by -6 and reverse inequality sign
e≥-7/6
solution in interval notation
[-7/6,∞)
