I have tried to multiply both sides by 12 as a lowest common denominator and I am not getting the answer right. I need help how how to solve it. I cannot locate a problem like this one in my textbook.

12(2k-3/4) < 12*3


24k - 9 < 36


24k - 9+9 < 36+9


24k < 45


k < 45/24


k < 15/8

multiply both sides by 4, to get rid of the denominator
4(2k) - 3 < 4(3)
8k - 3 < 12
8k < 12 + 3
8k < 15
k <
or
k < 1.875
