Question 54300: Absolute value of(2x+5) is less than or equal to 3.
/2x+5/<=3
I set it up according to the rule /ax+b/<=c then -c<=ax-b<=c
so
-3<=2x+5<=3
-5 -5 -5
-8<=2x<=-2
-4<=x<=-1
Interval notation would be [-4,-1]
However, my teacher's answer sheet to the review problem shows -4 or in interval notation (-4,-1]
why would -4 be less than and not less than or equal to x?

You are correct. The answer in the answer book is probably
a typing error.
