Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 | y + 5 | - 2 = 7
add 2 to both sides
3 |y + 5| = 7 + 2
3 |y + 5| = 9
divide both sides by 3
|y + 5| =
|y + 5| = 3
Two solutions
x + 5 = 3
x = 3 - 5
x = -2
and
x + 5 = -3
x = -3 - 5
x = -8

Check both solutions in the original problem
