3w + ≧ 2w

Clear of fractions by mutiplying through by 4

12w + 5 ≧ 8w

Subtract 5 from both sides:

    12w ≧ 8w - 5

Subtract 8w from both sides:

     4w ≧ -5

Divide both sides by 4 (which is positive so it doesn't reverse the
inequality):

      w ≧

In the first place, you do not have an equation, you have an inequality. The difference in the solution process only arises if you multiply by a negative (in which case you have to reverse the sense of the inequality). Other than that, the processes are the same as solving an equation.
