Question 496529: Why does the inequality sign change when both sides are multiplied or divided by a negative number?
Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If a > b, then a-b > 0. Subtracting a from both sides, -b > -a or -a < -b. Obviously, scaling by a positive number won't change the inequality sign.
