the sum of three times a number and 7 more than a number is the same as the differences between -11 and twice the number. What is this number?
Let x is the number
the sum of three times a number (3x)and 7 more than a number (7+x)is the same as the differences between -11 and twice the number (-11-2x)
3x+(7+x)=-11-2x
3x+7+x=-11-2x
4x+7=-11-2x
4x+2x=-11-7
6x=-18
x=-18/6
x=-3
