My question is, what are the (1) and (2) for? How do I solve this?
Thank you so much for any help!

Answer by jorel1380(3719)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do you solve this? You don't. Your equations can be rephrased as such:
x+2y=9
x=7-2y or x+2y=7
These equations describe parallel lines which never meet; thus there is no common solution..
