Question 420919: Use an inequality to slove the problem
One side of a triangle is 4 cm shorter than the base, x. The other side is 6 cm longer than the base. What lengths of the base will allow the perimeter of the triangle to be at least 29 cm?
x=base lenght
x-4 1st side
x+6 2nd side
a+b+c=P
x+x-4+x+8>or equal to 29 do not know how to make the greater than
or equal to sign on comp. Lost after that.
so far is that right, and how do I finish

Seriously though, except for one little typo, you have done everything correctly. The last step you show should look like:

(6 instead of 8)

Then it is exactly like solving the analogous equation (except that if you ever have to multiply by a negative, you have to reverse the sense of the inequality sign, greater than becomes less than or vice versa).

Collect terms:

Add -2 to both sides:

Multiply by :

By the way, if you need to render or in plain text use >= or <=.
