Question 40619: Could someone please help me to understand how to solve this type of problem? I just cannot seem to get it.
Solve each rational inequality and state the solution set using interval notation.

a__
a + 2 >0
(I can't get it to post correctly, a is over a + 2 and both together are suppose to be >0)

Answer by junior403(76)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve each rational inequality and state the solution set using interval notation.

First we need to eliminate the fraction by multiplying both sides of the equation by the denominator (a + 2).

The a + 2 cancels out on one side and the 0(a+2) = 0, so now we have...

This tells us that (a) is equal to all real numbers greater than zero.
So our solution set in interval notation is...
(0,~) or (0, infinity)
I hope this helps.
Good Luck!
