Question 39827: bob has $3 more than Carol, and Carol has twice as much as Leon. Together they have $108. How much does each person have?
Answer by atif.muhammad(135)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Carol = $x
Bob has $3 more than Carol = $(x+3)
Carol has twice as much as Leon = $0.5x
Together they have $108 = x + (x+3) + 0.5x
x + x+ 3 + 0.5x = 108
2.5x + 3 = 108
2.5x = 105
5x = 210
x = 42
Carol has $42
Bob has $3 more than Carol = $45
Carol has twice as much as Leon = Leon has $21
Hope that helps!
