Answer by sdmmadam@yahoo.com(530) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-s+4=7s-3
4+3 = 7s+s (grouping like terms, changing sign while changing side)
(same as adding 3 to both the sides and adding s to both the sides)
7=8s
That is 8s = 7
Therefore s = 7/8 (dividing by 8)
Verification: putting s = 7/t,
Lhs = -s+4 = (-7/8)+4 =(-7+32)/8= 25/8
RHS = 7s-3 = 7X(7/8)-3 = (49-24)/8 = 25/8 =LHS
Therefore our value for s is correct

You can start by getting the variable to one side of the equation.
Add s to both sides of the equation. This will "undo" the negative s (-s) on the left side and "move" it to the right side.
Now add 3 to both sides.
Finally, divide both sides by 8.
