you have 2 equations:
4x + 6 < 10 is the first equation.
subtract 6 from both sides of this equation to get:
4x < 4
divide both sides of this equation by 4 to get:
x < 1
2x-9 > 5 is the second equation.
add 9 to both sides of this equation to get:
2x > 14
divide both sides of this equation by 2 to get:
x > 7
your answers are:
x < 1 or x > 7
this can be written as:
(x<1) union (x>7)
in interval notation, it would probably look like this:
(,1) union (7,).
