Question 258954: 3(x+6)=5(x-2)
Answer by mathbath(13) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3(x+6)=5(x-2)
opening the paranthesis..
3(x) + 3(6) = 5(x) - 5(2)
3x + 18 = 5x - 10
Substracting 3x from both sides..
3x + 18 - 3x = 5x - 10 - 3x
18 = 2x - 10
Adding 10 on both sides..
18 + 10 = 2x - 10 + 10
28 = 2x
Dividing both sides by 2
28/2 = 2x/2
14 = x
So..
x = 14
