Let's take an example.
x> y
divide by -6
-x/6<-y/6
Now lets see if it is true by substituting numbers
42> 36
divide by -6
42/-6 and 36/-6
-7 and -6
but -6> -7
or
-7<-6
Why? Because the negative number line digits are the reverse order of the positive number line digits.
