you take more than $8.25 but less than $10 to the amusement park. You ride the slide 15 times and decide that you need a soda. If the soda is $2,do you have enough money left over to buy the soda?

The key for this is as follows: The wetter than wet waterpark charges $0.75 to rent a mat plus $0.50 each time you ride the big water slide.

I have figured out that the equation is y=0.75+0.50x

You're very close. From this equation, we would say x is the amount of times you rode the slide and y would be the amount of money spent. So, if you rode the slide 15 times, the equation would then be:

y=8.25
.
If you only took somewhere between $8.25 and less than $10.00, would you have enought money to buy a $2 soda? No. Because you would only have left $1.25 at the most.
