Question 198324: Suppose you are shopping at the fruit market. You want to spend no more than $12.00 on apples and bananas. Bananas cost $2 per bunch, and apples cost $4 per bag. Write and graph the inequality.
Please help me write and graph the inequality for this problem.
Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let = bags of apples bought
Let = bunches of bananas bought
given:
= amount spent on apples
= amount spent on bananas
If I plot on the vertical axis
and on the horizontal axis, I get
The safe area is either on the line
or under it. For instance, if I get 5 bunches of
bananas, it looks like I can't get 1 bag of apples
without going over the line.
All I can get is 1/2 a bag of apples, as seen on the graph
