Question 177863: Y=2x-7
x+y=11
with all work and solve for x and y
i just dont get it
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=2x-7
x+y=11
------------
There are a number of ways to solve this system.
One way is called substitution:
Since y = 2x-7 substitute that into the 2nd equation and solve for "x":
---
x + (2x-7) = 11
x + 2x - 7 = 11
3x = 18
x = 6
----------------
Since y = 2x-7,y = 2*6-7 = 12-7 = 5
-------------------
Ans: y = 5 and x = 6
