Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9.75X+8.50(45-X)=398.75
9.75X+382.50-8.50X=398.75
1.25X=398.75-382.50
1.25X=16.25
X=16.25/1.25
X=13 OF THE $9.75 PAINT BRUSHES WERE SOLD.
45-13=32 OF THE $8.50 PAINT BRUSHES WERE SOLD.
PROOF:
9.75*13+8.50*32=398.75
126.75+272=398.75
398.75=398.75
