I'm assuming that you want to find the solution set of the system of inequalites AND right?

Start with the first inequality.

Multiply both sides by the LCD to clear any fractions.

Distribute and multiply.

Add to both sides.

Combine like terms on the right side.

Divide both sides by to isolate . note: Remember, the inequality sign flips when we divide both sides by a negative number.

Reduce.

So the first part of the answer is

-----------------

Start with the second inequality

Convert the mixed fraction into an improper fraction.

Multiply both sides by the LCD to clear any fractions.

Distribute and multiply.

Add to both sides.

Combine like terms on the right side.

Divide both sides by to isolate . note: Remember, the inequality sign flips when we divide both sides by a negative number.

Reduce.

So the second part of the answer is

Answer:

So together the answers are AND

This is NOT possible since you cannot have a number that is both less and greater than some number. It's like saying "pick a number that is BOTH positive AND negative", it's not possible.

So there are no solutions
