The time Roger takes to finish the first 20 miles of the race is:
20/16 hours
or
1 and 1/4 hours
.
If he wants to finish the race in less than 2.5 hours he must travel the rest of the race (30 miles) in less than this amount of time:
2.5 - 1.25 = 1.25 hours
.
Therefore, his speed must be "greater than":
30/1.25 = 24 mph
.
solution: >24 mph
(that is, "greater than" 24 mph)
