Graph the line y = -3 and make it a solid line because of the "or equal to" part of your inequality -- you would make a dashed line otherwise, then pick any point NOT on that line and substitute the coordinates of that point into . If you get a true statement, shade in the half-plane containing the selected point. If you get a false statement, shade in the other side. Hint: If the line you just graphed does NOT pass through the origin, i.e. , then is always a good test point for this process.

Follow the same process for the other inequality. The solution set to the system is the area where the two shaded areas overlap.
