Typically an inequality has a RANGE of solutions. For instance, if your inequality looks like 11 > y, then the inequality is TRUE for all values of y which are less than 11. Or, you could say that if y is less than 11, then it is a solution to the inequality.
For both inequalities and equations, if you plug a value in and the expression remains TRUE, then the value you plugged in is a member of the solution set for that expression. Depending on the equation or inequality, the expression may have more than one solution.
