Change the inequality sign to equal sign, than solve the equation and at the end put the inequality sign.
9-5x<1-4x Place all the numbers on one side.
9-5x-1+4x=0 Do the operations and place the inequality sign back.
-x+8<0
-x<-8 multiply both sides of the inequality by (-1) and change the inequality sign
x>8

Add 5x to both sides to get:
9 < 1 +x
Subtract 1 from both sides to get:
x < 8
