h = −16t2 + 45t + 4.7
gives the height, in feet, of a baseball t seconds after it is hit, and
s = 103.9t
gives the horizontal distance, in feet, of the ball from home plate t seconds after it is hit. (See the following figure.) Use these equations to determine whether this particular baseball will clear a 10-foot fence positioned 340 feet from home plate.

From SECOND equation, you should calculate the time needed to cover 340 feet horizontally
at the horizontal rate of 103.9 ft/s.


Having it, you should substitute this time value into FIRST equation and CHECK, 
if the corresponding height is greater than 10 feet.

the rest is boring, mechanistic and routine arithmetic,  feasible for every student.
