Question 1177550: y>=-2x-1, y>=x+2

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20055)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. draw the line y=-2x-1 by methods you've studied, solid since it's ≥ not >
2. draw the line y=x+2   "     "      "       "       "     "    "   "  "  "
3. since it's y≥ (and not y≤), the shading is ABOVE (not BELOW) the line.
4. since both lines are y≥, shade the area which is ABOVE both lines.

Sometimes you have to shade above both lines, as in this case.
Sometimes you have to shade above one and below the other.
Sometimes you have to shade below both lines.
