Question 120787: Hello, I'm completely lost. Can anyone help me with this. Please provide sources if you can. Thanks
Using the Library, web resources, and/or other materials, find a real-life application of a quadratic function. State the application, give the equation of the quadratic function, and state what the x and y in the application represent. Choose at least two values of x to input into your function and find the corresponding y for each. State, in words, what each x and y means in terms of your real-life application. Please see the following example. Do not use any version of this example in your own post. You may use other variables besides x and y, such as t and S depicted in the following example. Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.
Typing hint: To type x-squared, use x^2. Do not use special graphs or symbols because they will not appear when pasted to the Discussion Board.
When thrown into the air from the top of a 50 ft building, a ball’s height, S, at time t can be found by S(t) = -16t^2 + 32t + 50. When t = 1, s = -16(1)^2 + 32(1) + 50 = 66. This implies that after 1 second, the height of the ball is 66 feet. When t = 2, s = -16(2)^2 + 32(2) + 50 = 50. This implies that after 2 seconds, the height of the ball is 50 feet.

Question 121767: I would really appreciate your help solving this problem. I have tried many different times and really do not know how to go about solving it. My attempts to solve are shown below the problem. Thank you.
Sue and Treg just started dating on Jan 1, 2008. Treg has every 9th day off startiing on Sunday. Sue has every 6th day off starting on monday. Sue's dad says that they can borrow his new car to go on a date into Chicago the next time that she and Treg both have the same day off. After a month, Sue is convinced that they will NEVER have the same day off. Treg doesn't believe that this can be the case. With whom do you agree?
I believe that they will have a day off because 6 & 9 are the same multiplier, they are each multiples of 3. I just do not know how to make the formula to answer the question. I tried this formula and it didn't work.
1/9 + 1/6 = 1/x
x18=x18
18/9+18/6 = 18/x
2+3=18/x
5=18/x
5x=18
x=3.6

The formula for calculating the amount of money returned for an initial deposit into a bank account or CD (certificate of deposit) is given by
A=P(1+r/n)^nt
A is the amount of the return.
P is the principal amount initially deposited.
r is the annual interest rate (expressed as a decimal).
n is the number of compound periods in one year.
t is the number of years.
Carry all calculations to six decimals on each intermediate step, then round the final answer to the nearest cent.
Suppose you deposit $2,000 for 5 years at a rate of 8%.
