Question 328484: The total solar radiation H on a particular surface during an average clear day is given by:
H=5000/T^2+10
where t (-6 < equal to or less than t < equal to or less than 6 ) is the number of hours from noon. Note that 6 a.m. is equivalent to t = -6. Find the instantaneous rate of change of H with respect to t at 3 p.m.

Question 329320: Looking for assistance in creating an equation to solve the following problem.
The force needed to keep a car from skidding on a curve varies jointly as the weight of the car and the square of the car's speed, and inversely as the radius of the curve. If a force of 3600 pounds is needed to keep an 1800 pound car traveling at 20 mph from skidding on a curve of radius 600 feet what force would be required to keep the same car from skidding on a curve of radius 570 feet at 50 mph?

Question 331683: I have a word problem that I would like help simplifying.
The sum of 2 numbers is 20,and the sum of their squares is 218.Find the numbers.
I have created equations of x+y=20 and x*x+y*y= 218. but I am assuming I need to break down the second equation to substitute the value of 20 for the term x+y.
Any help would be great
Thanks

Question 337462: the perimeter of a rectangular garden is 56ft. The length is 4 more ft than the width. What are the dimensions of the garden?
the perimeter of a rectangular garden is 56ft. The length is 4 more ft than the width. What are the dimensions of the garden?
P=56
Equation:p=2L+2W
L=w+4
56 = 2(w+4)+2w
56 = 2w+8+2w
56 = 4w+8
56-8=4w+8-8
48=4w
48/4=4w/4
12=w is the width
Plug in equation above to get the length:
L=12+4=16

Question 337467: the perimeter of a rectangular lot is 190 ft. the width of the lot is 15ft more than the length. what are the dimensions of the lot.
P=2L+2W
W=L+15
190=2L+2(L+15)
190=2L+2L+30
190-30=4L
160/4=L
40=L
W=40+15=55
DIMENSIONS IS 55 FEET BY 40 FEET.
