Question 958945: Given rt cone height (h) of 12 and radius (r) of 6 find formula for volume in cone as a function of height. v(h). Volume is 144pi therefore v(h) should be 144pi minus 1/3pi(6-r)squared times (12-h).
Having trouble with the algebra working out. Answer is pi/12 times h cubed but cant seem to get there.
Thanks!

Given rt cone height (h) of 12 and radius (r) of 6 find formula for volume in cone as a function of height. v(h).
V(h) = (1/3)pi*r^2*h
-----------------------------
Volume is 144pi therefore v(h) should be 144pi minus 1/3pi(6-r)squared times (12-h).
=====
144pi = (1/3)pi*6^2*12
-----
144 = (1/3)36*12
144 = 12*12
144 = 144
--------------
