How much water must be evaporated from 7 qt of a 50% antifreeze solution to produce a 70% solution?
:
Let w = amt of water to be evaporated
.50(7) = .7(7-w)
3.5 = 4.9 - .7w
.7w = 4.9 - 3.5
.7w = 1.4
w = 1.4/.7
w = 2 qt evaporated
:
Check
.50(7) = .7(5)
