Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A washer and dryer cost $995.00 combined, the washer costs $95.00 more then the dryer, how much is the dryer?
------
Let the dryer cost "x" dollars.
Then the washer cost "x+95" dollars.
-----
Equation:
dryer + washer cost = 995 dollars
x + (x+95) = 995
2x = 900
x = $450 (dryer cost)
x+95 = $545 (washer cost)
