Find the volume of a cone, in terms of pi, with a radius of 3 inches and a height of 6 inches. If the radius of the cone is doubled while the height remains constant, what is the volume of the cone? What happens to the volume of a cone if it’s radius is doubled?

The volume of a cone as a function of its radius and height is given by:
\ =\ \frac{1}{3}\pi{r^2}h)
So if you double the radius, then the radius of the new, larger cone is

\ =\ \frac{1}{3}\pi(2r)^2h)

\ =\ \frac{4}{3}\pi{r^2}h)
Divide the volume of the large cone by the volume of the smaller one:
