A goldsmith mixes 8 oz of a 30% gold alloy with 12 oz of a 25% gold alloy.
What is the percent concentration of the resulting alloy?
:
Let x = the resulting per cent
The resulting amt will be 8+12 = 20 oz
:
30(8) + 25(12) = 20x
240 + 300 = 20x
540 = 20x
x = 540/20
x = 27% is the resulting alloy
