john's age is four less than six times his brother's age and the sum of thier ages is equal to ten. how do you slove this word proublem?
ans: let john's age = x years
john's brother's age = y years.
then according to the problem x = 6*y-4 ----I
and x + y = 10 --------II
Putting x from I in II
6y-4+y=10
7y=14
hence y=2years
and x=8years
