Since 16 students took the test on the original day, and since the average score was 82, then the total score for the test was 1,312 (16 * 82)
Since 2 students (James & Vanessa) were added to the original 16 students to make the average score 80, then the total score, for 18 students was 1,440 (18 * 80)
