Jen has to lose 7 pounds.How many minutes will it take her.It takes 15 minutes to lose 100 calories and 3500 calories to lose 1 pound.How would I put that into an algebra equation?
=======================================
Let r = the calorie burn rate
Let c = the number of calories required to lose 7 lbs
Then the time required will be the number of calories divided by the rate:
t = c/r
Putting in the numbers, we get
c = 3500 cals/lb * 7 lb = 24500 cal
r = 100 cal/15 min
So t = 24500 cal/(100 cal/15 min) = 245*15 = 3675 mins.
