Question 34487: How many games have to be played to determine a champion from 64 teams in a tripple elimination tournament?
Answer by khwang(438) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For regular tournament, determine a champion from 64 teams
need 63games, since all other teams got exact one loss.
For triple elimination tournament, if I understand corretly, then
the 63 teams got 3 loss each, while the champion may have 0, one or two
losses.
Hence, totally there are 63 *3 = 189 , totally there are 189 ,190 or 191 games
to play.
