Let s = speed of boat in still water
then
s = speed of the current

The current is added and subtracted from the boat speed so we can say:
s = speed downstream
and
s = speed upstream

Write a time equation, time = dist/speed
+ = 5.25
invert the dividing fractions and multiply
+ = 5.25

+ = 5.25
multiply by 24s to eliminate the denominators
4(252) + 3(252) = 5.25(24s)
