Question 217570: Why is it important to consider the domain of a Rational Expression? Explain. Can you think of any "real" life examples

the domain determines the range.
there are certain values in the domain that would result in undefined values in the range. division by zero is one such situation where if it is allowed in the domain then it results in invalid results in the range. square root of a negative number is another case where not restricting the domain would result in imaginary and complex numbers in the range. you have to analyze your equation to see what values in the domain would yield invalid results in the range and you have to prohibit them from consideration.
