Three times a number and 3/4 is equal to five times the product of a number and 2
by the way this is not a test i am math tutor but students are getting this wrong after i translate and i want to make sure the book is correct or possibly not. thanks you

Does it mean 3(x + ) = 10x
or
does it mean 3x + = 10x

It's a poorly written problem, no wonder students are have difficulty with it.
