the boat can make 32 mph with the current and 18 mph against the current.
so 32=s+c, where s is speed of boat in flat water and c the speed of the current
and18=s-c
50=2s
s=25 mph in still water
c=7 mph current

Find the 2 speeds downstream and upstream.
The boat's speed is the average of those 2.
